The phenomenon of lockpicking, namely the art of pick a lock, has become an element of public domain, thanks to Internet. There are numerous videos online, which explain how to use a bump key and which make this practice accessible to everyone. Nevertheless, few studies have examined the origins and the possible consequences of this phenomenon. This article proposes, on the one hand to examine the origins of lockpicking and to identify his possible effects, on the other hand to understand the reasons that lead the users to inform about this practice and the possible risks hidden behind Internet.
