The presence of nightmares is found in a considerable portion of traumatized people and in 70% of the general psychiatric population. Although several authors have also highlighted how the treatment of nightmares improves not only the outcome of the treatment of patients with PTSD but also of patients with other psychopathological conditions, the evaluation and specific treatment of nightmares today remain rare even in dedicated clinical centers to sleep care. This article intends to demonstrate the usefulness of an adequate psychodiagnostic evaluation and of a specific psychotherapeutic treatment of nightmare disorder through the sharing of a clinical case.
