Despite of the primacy of affects and development of emotional life is certainly a contribution of the psychoanalytic paradigm to contemporary culture, in psychoanalytic theory the concept of feeling is neglected. The freudian approach to affect is discussed, and a relational psychoanalytc perspective on feelings is presented, with attention to clinical application of the concepts.
